Escribano real y público del número de Madrid. Natural de Argüelles, parroquia del concejo de Siero, en el Principado de Asturias. Hijo de Sancho Argüelles y Marina Pérez de Aguinar. Perteneció a la Cofradía de Nuestra Señora de la O y San Roque, de la iglesia de San Ginés. Casado con Illana Rodríguez. Tuvo dos hijos llamados María y Mateo Argüelles. Otorgó testamento en Madrid, el 22 de agosto de 1572, ante Pedro de Anaya Zúñiga, escribano del rey.
